He travelled by ship from Montreal to New York in 1937, along with his wife, on the SS “Duchess of Atholl” departing 1937 August 16 and arrival at New York August 20.

Index of Births indicates he was born at Aston, Warwickshire (near Birmingham). However, the census of 1891 says he was born at Handsworth, Staffordshire. However, since that was the census district, it may have been incorrectly reported as birth rather than residence.
