Age given in 1871 census was 12 and in 1891 census as 31, indicating birth year as around 1859 -- conflict with death registration which would give birth about 1853.
In 1891 family was at McKim and Chisholm, Nipissing, Ontario. Living with the family was his parents William and Louisa Aird.
A transcript of the 1911 census for Sub district 49, District 183, Montreal Ste Marie purports to be of this family in the transcript, but it is not fully legible and I questioned if that is correct. However, it appears to be correct as the date of birth matches clodely (within two weeks) that of the Civil Service list. However, the census says born 1860 Aoril 14.
In 1888 was working as Preventive Officer for the Department of Customs at Sault Ste. Marie, appointed 1888-08-01 and earning $400 a year.
